Pipers 4-0 District Play defeat the Chiefs!

Today was a big game for the Pied Pipers.  The win tonight gives us the shot at district champs.  Wow!  District Champs back-to-back...this is big, it is real big in the Lucas household.  Many hours of game planning have taken place for the "big one" tonight.  Everyone wants to know what team will come out on top!  I can look back at last year and it seems like yesterday -- and I can remember how much our family aspired to win the district title.  It had been 9 years since the last district title for Hamlin and a trip to the play-offs.  The pressure was heavy; the excitement in the community was high.  The nerves were shot at the "Lucas field house"!  The Pipers surprised everyone in the big country, sportswriters were amazed with our ability especially since our "Pipers" were small in size but huge with heart to take the district title! A goal that was set had been accomplished in 2009.  2010 has only motivated our team to take it again and continue on with unfinished business.

2010 District Champs 5-0

Friday's begin with a pep rally- awesome pep rallies.  Today's pep rally was the black out rally which is tradition, along with "Pipers for a Cure" in support of breast cancer awareness and also Sr. recognition night.  My emotions were very high, in the fact that it was the last home game for my "Sr. son" and we were promoting the awareness of breast cancer.  I have never wanted anything more than for my children to have roots - I believe that Tyler will have that today.  We have been so blessed to be able to call Hamlin home.  The fact that "Pipers for a Cure" is vital- this disease has affected so many people.  Awareness for this disease will help in finding a cure.  So many families deal with this illness and it makes me proud for our school and team to contribute to this cause.

Coach Lively with his family.  Audra, Grandma and Penny.  I have enjoyed meeting these wonderful women.  Thanks Coach for sharing your family with us.  They are wearing their pink in support of "Pipers for a Cure"...Grandma is a breast cancer survivor ,doesn't she look wonderful.  Thank you for your inspiration and let me tell you she is a real trooper.  This lady can hang with the wives anytime!!!!

Let's begin with a few photos of today's pep rally.  Ryne is beginning the pep rally by making his usual rounds with the crowd.  Below he is giving Abby "five".  Abby is the daughter of Coach Mueller and Laura Kate.  It has been a real joy having Abby around.  She is my riding partner to all the out-of-town games.  She loves to leave early and follow the bus - we love cheering for the "Pipers"!  Thanks Abby :)

The Pep Rally happened to be on the weekend of Halloween!

Alyssa, Emily and Chelsea looking cute and colorful!

Another "Piper" tradition...thanks to our most enthusiastic booster supporter, Dan Byerly has organized for our community and parents to feed our team a meal before every game, yes EVERY GAME!  The parents were in charge of feeding the team this week ...

When we arrived home from the "pep rally"  we found this hanging on our garage door provided by our "little adopt a Piper".  Thanks Micaela and Brayden.
Tonight's game was in honor of those fighting courageously and those who have won the battle.
 Senior Night:
The Seniors were honored at tonight's game .  I am so proud of Tyler for the young man he is becoming.  His school years provided many years of joy, I loved being part of what my boys were involved in.  Most of all I am proud for the stand they take in doing the right thing and the love and acceptance they have for others but most of all for loving God and trying to please Him with their actions. Yes I am filled with emotion as we walk across this home field but I am so excited for what the future has in store for Tyler.  I know that with his determination and dedication he will find happiness and create a future.  Tyler keep working hard and never give up, always believe that you can accomplish all things through Christ.  Son, I am proud of you and for the young man you have become.

I have been holding this guy's hand for a long time...special times <3 mom
My #12 and my #1 coach - love these men immensely!

Meet Kenzie Scifres:  She is a senior and she is our team manager.  This young lady provides water, Gatorade and anything else these "Pipers" may need.  She will take care of our "Pipers" and coaches.  I don't know what we would do without this young lady.  She has put many hours volunteering to help the football team.  Kenzie has been doing this job for 3 years, she begins in August during 2 a days and she continues throughout football season.  Kenzie is a special gal, she takes care  of all my "guys".  Something else special about Kenzie is that she was honored this last home game as the "Football Sweetheart"  an honor well deserved.  Thanks Kenzie and we love you and appreciate all that you do!
Sweetheart Kenzie and her parents Dan and DeeDee .   I think she looks lovely with her crown!

Kenzie and her court.  2010 Piper managers: Brandon, Caymon, Kenzie, Tucker, Cedar, Zack and Clay.  Great job guys!!!!
Kenzie is also a member of the Piper Band.  She is one busy girl.

Here come the Pipers............

Praying Pipers!

Captains: Tyler, Kyle, Kylon and Ryne

Tyler and Cody waiting for the play
Coach Lively and Tyler after the TD!
Kylon and Branson ready with the Gatorade - celebration time.
This should feel good after clenching the district title for the 2nd time in a row!!!!  Bring it on...
It always makes me proud that the "Pipers" begin with a prayer and end in prayer, especially with their opponent.

Final score:  Pipers 34- Crosbyton 13

Now for the best part of the evening:

After home games we host our Coach's Party, thanks to the Lively's for providing the meal.  The soup was delicious and the dessert was marvelous.  I am always ravenous after the games so I was thankful that we had a great meal and a great fellowship.  It is always great to unwind among friends and family and to celebrate after games.  I am thankful for my coaching family and for the support they provide me and my family.
Evenings like this night always exhaust me but I am always ready to do it again.  Loving my life and family....Hugs, Rosie

Jr. High Pipers travel to Crosbyton

Football has kept the Lucas family extremely busy, please forgive me for the delay of my post.  I began the blog so that my family would have memories and stories to enjoy.  I have found this to be calming and soothing to my day.  I guess you can tell I haven't had many calming and soothing moments lately.  I love my life as a coach's wife, but even more my life of the mother of three active Pipers!  So the dates may not coincide with the events but it's only because we have not been home very much for me to blog.

No one likes to be defeated especially the Pied Pipers.  The Pipers made the trip to Crosbyton to face the Chiefs. Here are a few pics of my #3 and his teammates playing hard and never giving up!

The Pipers had a rough night.  They faced defeat against a great team.  This was the first district loss for the 8th grade team.  Win or lose we are proud of the Piper team for giving it their best.  Great lessons are taught on the field.  We all desire to win and at times we must face loss, so when you do remember to keep your head up and always leave your best.
7th & 8th grade team 2010
I aimed to capture the scoreboard....only shot part of it --

The night in Crosbyton was a bit chilly.  During halftime of the game I was reminded of God's beauty around us.  There is nothing like a West Texas Sunset....God is good.....all the time.  I believe this was my favorite shot of the night.  I hope you enjoyed this late edition.
Blessings!  Rosie
